The Craft Behind KAFUR

In traditional Tangzhuang, the trim fabric — known in Chinese as 配布 — is the quiet signature of a well-made garment. Applied at the cuffs and collar, it is the detail that separates a piece made with intention from one simply made to be worn.

At KAFUR, our Signature Trim is cut from 古布燙金純棉 — a pure cotton fabric adorned with gold-effect metallic print, rooted in the tradition of classical Chinese textile craft. The 燙金 technique uses heat-transferred metallic foil to achieve its signature shimmer — no real gold, no silk — making it fully permissible for men to wear. Each pattern is chosen not merely for its beauty, but for what it represents: nature, season, movement, and the quiet poetry of Chinese heritage.

Most Tangzhuang brands apply trim only at the cuff. KAFUR applies it at both the cuff and the collar — a distinction that, to our knowledge, no other brand in this space has made their standard.

Sweeping waves rendered in deep earth tones — black, slate, and ivory — with gold threading through each crest like light breaking through ocean depths. 金湧 draws from the classical Chinese artistic tradition of depicting water as force, rhythm, and life. It is the boldest of the four trims, and the most commanding — a statement worn at the wrist and throat of those who carry themselves with certainty.

青穗 Azure Plume

冬梅 Winter Plum
